Baptisms
When a child is born, the family often wishes to have him or her baptised.
The Methodist Church has a service for baptising a baby, or a simple thanks-
giving service. These are both normally done as part of a morning service, so
that the whole church family can join in the celebration, and make their vows too.
We also baptise adults if they have not been previously baptised. These services
are taken by the minister, who will meet with you beforehand to explain the
significance of Christian baptism and the promises to be made.
Weddings
The Methodist Church rejoices when a couple wish to marry and here at Priory
we do our best to make your wedding day special. Weddings are done under
licence from the Registrar, so make an appointment with our Minister to discuss
your specific needs and circumstances.
At its meeting on 6th July 2022, the Church Council of Priory Methodist Church
voted by a significant majority to permit the solemnisation of marriages of same
sex couples on the church premises, and also to permit services of blessing to
take place in church for same sex couples whose marriages have been
solemnised elsewhere. The relevant action is being taken by the Minister and
other members of the Leadership Team to register the church premises and
make the necessary appointments to enable such marriages and services of
blessing to take place.

Funerals
Funeral services are viewed as an important yet sensitive moment for families.
They are occasions when words of hope are shared, reflecting the Christian
belief that death is not the end but a gateway. The funeral is arranged through
our Minister who will discuss any particular need of the family whether or not you
attend church regularly.

Floral arrangements can be provided as required and the premises offer
facilities for a memorable reception or for a funeral tea.
Our Minister will be very happy to discuss any special requirements for any of
the services above. Please contact her via the Church Office 01234 353523 or
